White Tomesol is a rare American heirloom variety introduced in 1998 by Dorothy Beiswenger of Crookston, Minnesota. This vigorous, open-pollinated indeterminate tomato produces smooth, cream-colored to ivory white fruits weighing 6-14 ounces with exceptional sweet, mild flavor and low acidity. Seeds germinate readily within 6-14 days when provided with warm soil temperatures of 75-85°F and consistent moisture.

Use a heating mat to maintain soil temperatures at 75-85°F for optimal germination. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in sterile seed starting mix; do not direct sow into garden soil. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged to prevent fungal issues and seed rot. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date. Seeds do not require light for germination, but provide bright light immediately after emergence to prevent leggy seedlings. Use bottom watering to maintain steady moisture without disturbing seeds. Once seedlings emerge, reduce temperature to 60-70°F with bright light to promote stocky growth. Do not fertilize immediately; wait until first true leaves develop before transplanting into 3-4 inch pots. Bury stems up to lower leaves when potting to promote strong root growth.
