Protea neriifolia, also known as oleander-leaf protea or narrow-leaf sugarbush, is an endemic South African flowering shrub prized for its magnificent pink, orange, or cream flowers with distinctive hairy black margins. Pre-sowing smoke treatment with Smoke Seed Primer significantly increases germination rates by overcoming natural seed dormancy and can double the number of viable seedlings compared to untreated seeds.

Keep seedlings in semi-shade with 30% shade-cloth protection from pests and intense sun. Water with fine rose spray using rainwater preferred; avoid tap water with alkaline, brackish, or high salt content. Do not allow substrate to dry out during germination. Once true leaves appear after cotyledons, gradually expose to full sun. Continue daily early-morning watering, allowing surface to dry by evening to prevent fungal infection. Maintain temperature fluctuation between day and night for optimal results. Seeds sown in autumn will strengthen before summer heat; those in spring will benefit from longer growing season in cooler climates.
