Nymphaea pubescens, commonly known as the hairy water lily, is a tropical aquatic plant native to Asia with large, white or pink flowers that bloom approximately 15 cm in diameter. The species is named for the fine, hair-like structures on the undersides of its leaves and stems. Seeds require warm water temperatures and bright light to germinate successfully over 3-5 weeks.

Tips
Sow seeds on soil surface and cover with thin substrate layer. Maintain 15-30 cm (6-12 inches) water depth above soil. Place in full sun or use grow light 6+ hours daily. Keep water temperature warm at 24-27°C (75-80°F). Seedlings resemble thin grass initially. Transplant when 2-3 floating leaves appear. Gradually increase water depth as plants mature to 30-50 cm. Use clean, dechlorinated water and change daily to prevent fungal issues. Fresh seeds germinate better than stored seeds.
