Hakea victoria, commonly known as Royal Hakea or Lantern Hakea, is an ornamental shrub endemic to Western Australia, noted for its striking variegated foliage in shades of yellow, orange, red and cream. The species germinates easily using conventional sowing methods, and treatment with the included Smoke Seed Primer can enhance germination rates and reduce germination time.
Before sowing
Smoke treatment beneficial but not essential. Hakea victoria germinates well by conventional sowing methods; smoke treatment enhances results.

What to expect
Tips
Best sown in spring. Use the Smoke Seed Primer: dissolve the disc in 50ml water and soak seeds for 24 hours before sowing. Do not sow too deep—cover lightly with seed-raising mix. Keep substrate moist but not waterlogged to prevent damping off. Germination typically occurs in 14-42 days depending on temperature. Seeds may remain dormant until conditions mimic their natural habitat requirements; do not discard non-germinated seeds immediately. Once germinated, transplant seedlings into individual pots with well-drained soil. Plant in full sun position with excellent drainage after establishment.
