Coffea liberica, commonly known as Liberian coffee, is a tropical coffee species native to West and Central Africa with a unique smoky, woody flavor profile. Seeds require extended germination periods (50-87 days) compared to Arabica and prefer warm, humid conditions with consistent moisture. This species is increasingly valued for its adaptability to challenging environmental conditions including waterlogged and acidic soils.

Tips
Maintain dark, consistently moist (not waterlogged) conditions during germination. Keep substrate temperature at 25°C for optimal results. Seeds show epigeal (above-ground) germination. Seedlings develop 2-4 pairs of leaves within 8-12 weeks and can be transplanted into polythene bags at this stage. Maintain high humidity levels (above 70%) throughout germination. Be patient—germination is slower than Arabica or Robusta species. Avoid direct sunlight until seedlings emerge.
