Brugmansia suaveolens var. yellow (Yellow Angel's Trumpet) is a member of the Solanaceae family known for its spectacular, fragrant lemon-yellow trumpet-shaped flowers. All parts of this plant are highly toxic if ingested, particularly the seeds and leaves. This species requires warm temperatures and high humidity for successful seed germination and development.

Before sowing

Scarification
agua_quente Soak seeds in warm water for 24 to 48 hours to soften the seed coat and improve germination. Alternatively, remove cork-like seed coating before soaking
Soak
24 h Soak seeds in warm water for 24 to 48 hours prior to sowing to soften the pithy seed coat

Hot water immersion for 24 to 48 hours is strongly recommended. Optional: carefully peel cork-like outer covering to enhance germination speed, though this is not necessary

Tips

Keep sowing medium consistently moist but never waterlogged. Cover container with clear plastic lid or plastic wrap to maintain high humidity. Provide bright, indirect light or grow lights for 16-18 hours daily - light improves germination rates. Seeds require light to germinate, so only barely press seeds into the soil surface or cover very lightly. Use bottom heat (heat mat at 20-27°C) to improve germination success. Transplant seedlings to individual pots when they develop 2 sets of true leaves. Plants will not flower until the main stem reaches approximately 80-150 cm height and forks into a Y-shape. Handle seeds and seedlings with care and avoid skin contact with foliage to prevent accidental exposure to toxic compounds.
