Sow seeds on surface or up to 1/8 inch deep; do not bury deeply. Maintain consistently moist (not waterlogged) soil during germination at 60-70°F (16-21°C). Provide bottom heat for faster, more uniform germination. Seeds do not require light to germinate, so light coverage is acceptable. Thin seedlings to 4-6 inches apart when large enough to handle. Transplant to final location after 4-6 weeks of growth or when danger of frost has passed. For best results, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date.
